On June 1, 2021, the Promulgative Decree of the Trade Continuity Agreement between the United Mexican States and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (the “Decree”) was published in the Official Gazette of the Federation.

In accordance with the provisions of the Decree, products from Mexico may enter the United Kingdom, and vice versa, with preferential tariffs.

Additionally, the Decree indicates that: (i) Mexico and the United Kingdom will negotiate, within a period of 1 year from June 1st, 2021, a free trade agreement; and (ii) conclude the negotiations for the free trade agreement within a period of no more than 3 years, as of June 1st, 2021.
