The purpose of this Memorandum is to provide a concise explanation regarding the announcement of the minimum wage increase in Mexico for the year 2025, issued by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, highlighting the new provisions, their impact and the applicable obligations.

General.
The President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, announced a 12% increase to the minimum wage, applicable as of January 1, 2025, following an agreement that was approved on December 3, in unanimous consensus by the Council of Representatives of the National Minimum Wage Commission (”Conasami”), which integrates the labor, employer and government sectors, and which will directly benefit 8.5 million male and female workers.

Increment Details.
The increase in general minimum wages is composed of the following factors:

-Northern Border Free Zone.
The minimum wage will increase from $374.89 to $419.88 pesos per day, equivalent to $12,596 pesos per month.

-Rest of the Country.
The salary will increase from $248.93 to $278.80 pesos per day, representing $8,364 pesos per month.

-Independent Recovery Amount – Wage increase aimed at supporting the economic recovery of workers receiving the Minimum Wage.

-Fixation increase – Percentage adjustment based on inflation.

Beneficiaries.
The increase will directly benefit 8.5 million workers, who will be able to improve their quality of life and well-being.

Impact on Well-Being.
The measure advances the goal of each worker being able to purchase 2.5 times the basic food basket by 2030.

Corporate Support.
The business sector, represented by Francisco Cervantes Díaz, president of the Consejo Coordinador Empresarial (‘’CCE‘’), expressed its support for this policy, emphasizing that collaboration between government, workers and businessmen strengthens shared prosperity in Mexico.
